“ This colonial tavern is situated inside the big E fair grounds. It is on the Storrowton Green and is open year round. We were at fair for the day and going to see a concert, but we wanted to sit down for dinner as we were not in the mood for fair food. We were definitely happily surprised by the quality of the food at this tavern. I was not expecting much but it was nice. I got a prime rib and it was perfectly done. The vegetables were also cooked well and the price was quite reasonable. My dining companions, all were complementary of their food. They did not have a lot of gluten and dairy free options, but I made it work. Our server was pretty new and he did the best that he could but we did end up waiting quite a long time for our drinks. The mixed drinks were very strong. I would eat here again. ”
“ Excellent meal, very nice waiter. We walked around the big E grounds after our meal and there was a band playing in the beer garden. The prices were reasonable. I had the prime Rib which was seasoned well and cooked to a perfect medium rare. My only note was that the bread pudding had whipped cream and chocolate syrup which did not go with the flavors of the dessert. ”
“ A M A Z I N G! We loved every moment. The ambiance is warm, quaint and brings you back in time. Donald is charming and he is ready to answer all questions about the history of the tavern. He proudly stands near his late mother's display of Russian Imperial porcelain. We decided to order traditional dishes - pot roast with our choice of potato and vegetable side. We chose the twice baked potato - butternut squash. We also ordered the scrod with a baked potato, spinach, and butternut squash. The warm rolls were freshly baked and crunchy. The cucumber dill dressing on the side salad was delectable! And how can I forget the perfectly flavored French onion soup! Did I already say it was amazing? ”
“ Visited with my large family. We were seated in a private room upstairs. I feel bad that they had one server assigned to our group. He was great and did a wonderful job. While I have no major complaints, I think it still would have been helpful for him to have 'back up'. The food was good. It would have been nice to have more veggie options. ”
